China / Hong Kong / Singapore / Malaysia

Things to know / Prohibited item

China

  • Customs officials at the destination may require an import permit or health certificate for the goods.
  • Shipping of food, second-hand clothing, and all types of cosmetics is prohibited.
  • There is a risk of additional taxes being levied on the recipient at the discretion of customs officials.

Hong Kong

  • Shipping of food items is permitted, but they must be packaged according to standard requirements (as if they are ready for retail in department stores).
    *Must include FDA approval, English labeling of ingredients, and production/expiration dates.
  • Customs officials at the destination may require an import permit or health certificate for the goods.
  • There is a risk of additional taxes being levied on the recipient at the discretion of customs officials.

Singapore

  • For processed food, it must be packaged in standard packaging that shows ingredient, production date and expiration date etc.
  • The assessment of these taxes and handling fees will be at the discretion of the destination customs officials.

Malaysia

For processed food, it must be packaged in standard packaging that shows ingredient, production date and expiration date etc.

We urge you to read the table below outlining what you cannot send to Malaysia. If any “Prohibited Goods” have to be removed from your shipment.

China

Singapore

  • Goods that are imported and would have been treated as tax & custom duty free if the total value of the package does not exceed $400 SGD.
  • In case the value of the goods is higher than $400 SGD, there is a chance that they will be subject to an additional tax & custom. The assessment of these taxes and handling fees will be at the discretion of the destination customs officials.

Malaysia

  • Goods that are imported and would have been treated as tax & custom duty free if the total value of the package does not exceed 500 MYR.
  • In case the value of the goods is higher than 500MYR, there is a chance that they will be subject to an additional tax & custom. The assessment of these taxes and handling fees will be at the discretion of the destination customs officials.

Taiwan, Japan, Philippines

Things to know / Prohibited item

Taiwan

  • In the case of sending processed food, it must be packaged in standardized packaging, including ingredients in English, and with production and expiration dates.
  • Food must not contain any kind of animal ingredients.
  • Dietary supplements must be accompanied by an import permit from the recipient.
  • Customs officials at the destination may request an import permit or impose additional taxes on health products and items of risk at the discretion of customs authorities.

Japan

  • For consumable products, the weight for each shipment should not exceed 5-10 kgs/shipment.
  • For dietary supplements, customs officials at the destination may require an import permit.

We urge you to read the table below outlining what you cannot send to Japan. If any “Prohibited Goods” have to be removed from your shipment.

  • Processed fruit products of all types are prohibited from being shipped.
  • Spicy processed foods such as ground chili, crispy fried chili, etc., are not allowed.
  • All types of medicines are prohibited
    1. Cosmetics, creams, and soaps can be shipped in the same category, but not exceeding 6 pieces of each type.

Philippines

  • Food and dietary supplements must be imported with a permit and registration number from the FDA of the Philippines only.
  • Customs officials at the destination may request an import permit or impose additional taxes on health products and items of risk at the discretion of customs authorities.

Taiwan

  • Goods that are imported and would have been treated as tax & custom duty free if the total value of the package does not exceed 2000 TWD.
  • In case the value of the goods is higher than 2000 TWD , there is a chance that they will be subject to an additional tax & custom. The assessment of these taxes and handling fees will be at the discretion of the destination customs officials.

Japan

  • Goods that are imported and would have been treated as tax & custom duty free if the total value of the package does not exceed 10,000 JYP.
  • In case the value of the goods is higher than 10,000 JYP, there is a chance that they will be subject to an additional tax & custom. The assessment of these taxes and handling fees will be at the discretion of the destination customs officials.

Philippines

  • Goods that are imported and would have been treated as tax & custom duty free if the total value of the package does not exceed 200 USD.
  • In case the value of the goods is higher than 200 USD , there is a chance that they will be subject to an additional tax & custom. The assessment of these taxes and handling fees will be at the discretion of the destination customs officials.

South Korea

Things to know / Prohibited item

South Korea

  • Customs officers may inspect the package, and there is a risk of additional taxes being imposed on the recipient at the discretion of the customs authorities.

    Recipient information must include one of the following:

    • 13-digit Korean Resident Registration Number (ID)

    • Alien Registration Card

    • Passport photo page

    Examples of shippable items:
    Clothing, household goods, Buddhist amulets, dried seafood, snacks, processed fruits and vegetables (seedless only), chili paste, sauces, seasoning powder.

  • Items that can be shipped but are subject to quantity restrictions (per box):

    • Items containing batteries, electrical appliances, and oral-care devices: 1 item per box

    • Over-the-counter medicines (subject to ingredient check), cosmetics, and dietary supplements: up to 6 items per box

    Examples of prohibited items:
    Perfume, medical devices (e.g., blood pressure monitors, breast pumps), contact lenses, tattoo equipment, corrosive substances, analog watches, and power banks.

Tax & Custom Duty

  • The value of goods in each package should not exceed 4,500 THB or 150 USD. (If the value exceeds this limit, customs duties and VAT may be imposed by customs authorities.) / If VAT is applied at the destination, it will be approximately 10-15% of the total value of the goods.
